I had a midterm earlier today for I/O Psych. and got out a bit early; combined with my usual 2hr break I was up to 3 hours total before my next [Spanish] class. I decided to check out midtown for a place to eat and avoid the post-midterm stress that usually overwhelms me for about a week following I stumbled upon Smith and Wollensky around 49th and 3rd and decided to check it out.
I ordered the chicken breast and after a lengthy chat with my waitress we agreed (well, she pretty much picked it out for me) that a glass of Pinot Noir was the way to go. The food came soon after I ordered and was a monstrous serving! The chicken was great, perfectly seasoned and unbelievably tender. The light-body red wine was a perfect match for the meal as well. Overall the service and decor was good but the food was superb. The only downside to this place is that its a bit expensive; the chicken, glass of wine and a cup of coffee afterwards ran me ~$50 w/15% tip. Well worth the price but not for everyone. I give the place a 4 2/3 out of 5.
