One more test to go (cognitive psychology) and I’m out of school for two weeks! I should be studying right now but I don’t think I can cram any more information into my head about how or why we remember the meanings of things instead of the physical or literal things themselves; go figure.
I just ate at a nice Italian restaurant around 29/30th and 3rd Ave. I got a table by the large, open windows which allowed for a soothing breeze to come through occasionally and for the first time this season it actually felt like spring. It was surprising to see that the people who worked there actually spoke Italian, almost a rarity these days or at least it seems. I did the hi/hello/what’s up thing with the waitress and ordered in Italian and it went without a hitch. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I still had some grasp over the language after last using it seriously ~6 years ago in HS although I had to rehearse the conversation in my head for a couple minutes prior to ordering. Afterwards, before handing over the check, she said something to me; it sounded really nice, whatever it was but I had no idea of what it meant. I conceded that I didnt speak Italian that well and she laughed, saying that I had her fooled. Im not sure if she was flirting or trying to up the tip. Perhaps another dinner there tomorrow night might clear things up. Anyway, a nice, early Italian dinner and what should be a fairly easy exam in about an hour, not a bad way to kick off spring break 06.
