I was listening to music in iTunes earlier yesterday afternoon when after about an hour of random play it killed my PC–blue screen of death. That wasn’t the first time it happened so I wasn’t so angry, just a little frustrated. I rebooted the computer and to my dismay I found out that the system file had been corrupted!
Now, for those who you who arent that familiar with Windows, that is not good. Not good at all. It means the operating system wont even start up because one of its critical files has been messed up and it doesnt know what to do, so it doesnt do anything.
fucking iTunes! 19 hours, a second (temp) XP installation, harassing of friends for floppy disks, punching and kicking my tower and various Linux based hacking utilities later Im back up and running with my original config with 0% file loss/application corruption.
Word to the wise: Backup your data (often), Make sure System Restore is enabled (Windows Only) & Don’t use iTunes!!!
