How to make a ‘Blood Diamond’
2 hours: guilt-trip
10 minutes: romance subplot
20 minutes: contemplate better ways you could’ve spent $11
The film goes through great lengths to illustrate the amount of violence and bloodshed that takes place over the mining of ‘conflict’ diamonds in Africa by enslaved workers. Outside of that, the plot is mediocre at best; typical, predictable and often drags along for painfully long periods of time. The only group of people I would suggest this movie to are those looking to propose sometime soon and think that three month’s salary is perhaps a tad too much…
